Kaitlin Park Earns Big Ten Golfer of the Week Nod

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern junior Kaitlin Park (Tustin, Calif./Beckman) has been named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week after finishing as the Wildcats' top performer at the inaugural Annika Intercollegiate, which featured one of the best fields possible in collegiate golf.
Park opened the tournament with a 2-under 70 and followed that with an even-par 72 in the second round to keep Northwestern within striking distance of the leaders. She would end the tourney with a final score of 1-over 217 to earn her first Big Ten Golfer of the Week award.
The Annika Intercollegiate featured 10 teams among its 12 entrants that advanced to the NCAA Championships last year with all 10 finishing among the top-18 in the country. Duke (1), USC (2), UCLA (3) and Arizona State (5) all earned top-5 results in the NCAA a year ago. Northwestern placed 15th nationally for the second-straight year.
Park's Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor follows classmate Suchaya Tangkamolprasert's (Bangkok, Thailand/Bromsgrove International School) nod after NU's season-opening victory at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The Wildcats have won the conference's weekly award after each of their two tournaments thus far in 2014-15.
Northwestern now returns home to face another top field at its own Windy City Collegiate Classic Oct. 6-7 at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Ill.
