Ritter Named Top Drawer Soccer National Player of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill.-For the second consecutive week, a Northwestern player has been named a national player of the week.
This week, senior midfielder Chris Ritter was named National Player of the Week by Top Drawer Soccer.
Ritter also took B1G Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Ritter registered both of the Wildcats' game-winning goals over the weekend--his first two goals of the season--and was named the Most Valuable Player in the Lakeside Classic.
"It was great to see Chris get on the board this week in terms of goal scoring," head coach Tim Lenahan said. "He does so much in the way of possession and defending. It's nice for him to get recognition on the offensive side of the ball as well."
In NU's 3-0 victory against Saint Mary's on Friday, Ritter headed in the `Cats first goal off a corner kick. On Sunday against Fairleigh Dickinson, Ritter broke a 1-1 tie with a penalty kick goal, giving NU a 2-1 lead which held up for the rest of the game.
Ritter was named B1G Co-Offensive POW along with Penn State freshman forward Mark Wadid. Michigan State's sophomore goalkeeper Zach Bennett earned B1G Defensive POW.
Northwestern (6-1-0) has now won six consecutive games, outscoring its opponents 14-1 during the streak.
The `Cats begin B1G conference play traveling Michigan Friday, Sep. 28 at 6 p.m. CT. NU returns to Lakeside Field to host Bradley on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. CT.
