'Rockstar' LinkedIn Student-Athlete Workshop

4/30/2013 12:00:00 AM | David G. Kabiller NU for Life Program

December 4, 2012

Nicolet Auditorium (NU) - Evanston, IL - Over 50 Northwestern student-athletes and staff attended the "Rockstar" LinkedIn Student-Athlete Workshop, where they learned the fundamentals of online networking through LinkedIn. David Fisher, President of Rockstar Consulting and Director of Training at Ajax Workforce Marketing, and a Northwestern alumnus, has been consulting individuals on the nuances of LinkedIn for over 7 years. Ajax is the first LinkedIn-certified training company in North America, and Mr. Fisher a bona fide LinkedIn guru. His engaging personality, extensive experience with business consulting, and vast knowledge of LinkedIn made for a great night of learning for all who attended. More specifically, the workshop taught attendees how to build a "Rockstar" LinkedIn account, how to leverage their current LinkedIn network, how to strategize following-up with professional contacts, and proper LinkedIn etiquette.

NU for Life organized the event as part of its new initiative to provide more professional development opportunities for student-athletes. NU for Life helps student-athletes network with successful Northwestern alumni who are now working professionals. The workshop conducted on the heels of the Wildcat Professional Excellence Program as a means to help student-athletes create, grow, and best leverage their professional networks.
