EVANSTON, Ill. -- After an opening weekend that saw her tie the NCAA single-game record for draw controls, Northwestern junior Alyssa Leonard was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week in the American Lacrosse Conference on Tuesday.

The Bay Shore, N.Y. native led the top-ranked Wildcats to a victory over No. 14 Massachusetts in their 2013 debut, recording nine draw controls and a career best three points on two goals and one assist.

On Saturday, Leonard scored a goal and two assists while posting an NCAA record-tying 15 draw controls against Division I newcomer Southern Cal at the L.A. Coliseum. The figure eclipsed the previous Northwestern single-game record of 10 shared by Leonard (2011), Danielle Spencer (2010) and Kristen Kjellman (2006).

Leonard's 24 draw controls on the weekend vaulted her from seventh to second on the school's career list with 205 -- leaving her only 63 behind Kjellman's school standard of 268 -- and placing her among the top 15 all-time in Division I women's lacrosse.

Top-ranked Northwestern resumes action on Friday, Feb. 22 at No. 5 North Carolina.
