Locke Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern freshman Lacey Locke was named the Big Ten women's swimming Freshman of the Week.
The freshman from Carmel, Ind. recorded four first-place finishes in a pair of weekend tri-meets last week.
Locke finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (55:18) and 200-yard backstroke (2:00.02) against Purdue and Ohio State (11/8). A day later, she placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (55.82) and 200-yard backstroke (1:59.95) versus Wyoming and Illinois-Chicago, helping the Wildcats defeat Wyoming (159-141) and UIC (210-86)
The award marks her first-career Freshman of the Week honor. Locke becomes the first Northwestern women's swimmer to win Freshman of the Week since Shelly Patton (Nov. 20, 2012).
NU hosts Wisconsin Friday at 4:30 p.m. CT at the Norris Aquatics Center.
