EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's Isabel Flens doubled up Big Ten field hockey weekly honors, being named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week as well as the Freshman of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.

It is the first time in her career that Flens has been recognized as the conference's Offensive Player of the Week. She was previously named Freshman of the Week on Sept. 10.

The native of Hattem, Netherlands, notched three goals, including two game-winners, in the Wildcats' two victories over ranked opponents last weekend. Against No. 14 Iowa on Friday, Flens rebounded her own initial shot that was saved and scored the game-winner nine minutes into the first overtime, giving NU a 4-3 win.

Two days later against No. 19 Michigan, Flens broke a 1-1 tie with a first-half goal and then added another in the second half en route to a 4-1 Northwestern victory. It marked the first multi-goal game of her career as the Wildcats extended their home winning streak to 14 games.

Flens ranks tied for first among all Big Ten freshmen with five goals, matching teammate Dominique Masters.

Northwestern (10-2) is ranked No. 10 in this week's NFHCA poll heading into a big matchup at No. 8 Penn State on Saturday. The contest is slated to get underway at noon Central time. The Wildcats also play at Kent State at 11 a.m. CT Sunday.
