TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Lauren Weaver continued her strong showing in her home state of Arizona Saturday, finishing in a first-place tie at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native needed a two-hole shootout with San Jose State's Jennifer Brumbaugh to determine the medalist after Saturday's final round and Brumbaugh prevailed in two holes.

Weaver and Brumbaugh both had the best three-round total of the tournament, posting a 7-under 209. The NU golfer shot a 3-under 69 in the third round, a personal season-low and low for any NU golfer this year, her second 3-under score of the tournament (69-71-69=209).

Weaver's first place finish is the best for any NU golfer so far this season and her three-round total of 209 also is the lowest for any Wildcat in 2011-12. She birdied 10 holes and finished with 41 pars en route to her first-place finish. Weaver's win is the second of her career after also capturing the 2011 Lady Northern -- the first victory for a Wildcat since 2007.

Weaver helped Northwestern finish seventh in the 15-team field. NU shot an 8-over 296 Saturday, totaling a 22-over 886 (298-292-296) for the tournament. The 'Cats finished three strokes behind sixth-place Kansas State (19-over 883) and a stroke ahead of San Jose State (23-over 887). Texas Tech won the team title, finishing with a 6-under 858 (284-286-288).

Six other NU golfers competed at the Mountain View Collegiate as Mei Liu (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis) and Anne Ormson (Granger, Ind./St. Joseph's) played as individuals. Liu and senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) finished in a tie for 40th with a 9-over 225. Lederhausen finished with a 3-over 75 in the third round (79-71-75) while Liu shot a 5-over 77 (73-75-77).

Freshman Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) finished one stroke behind Liu and Lederhausen, finishing at 10-over 226 (75-75-76) to place 46th. Fellow freshmen Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) shot a 4-over 76 in Saturday's final round, finishing in a tie for 50th at 12-over (77-75-76=228).

Sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) rounded out the group of five NU golfers contributing to the team score and had her best round of the tournament with a 4-over 76 Saturday. She tied for 58th at 14-over 230 (77-77-76).

Ormson, who also was competing as an individual, placed 78th with a 20-over 236 (76-82-78).
