EVANSTON, Ill. – After more than a month away from competition, Northwestern returns to the course this weekend at the Mountain View Collegiate. The two-day event that runs from Friday, March 23-Saturday, March 24 is held at the Mountain View Country Club in Tucson, Ariz. A total of 15 teams will compete on the par-72, 6,728-yard Mountain View Course.
 
Junior Lauren Weaver hails from Scottsdale, Ariz., about two and a half hours northwest of Tucson. She is currently tied with sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) for the lowest scoring average on the team through six events, at 76.06. Senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) along with freshmen Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) and Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) round out the group of five that has competed in all six of Northwestern's events so far this year.
 
Lederhausen has led the way for NU through two spring events, placing in the top-25 at both tournaments. She opened in a tie for ninth at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic and tied for 21st at the Central District Invitational. Lederhausen has a 75.33 scoring average so far in the spring season alone (two events; six holes).
 
This is Northwestern's first trip back to the Mountain View Collegiate since the 2008-09 season, when the 'Cats took sixth out of the 18-team field.
 
NU is one of four Big Ten teams competing in this year's event along with No. 23 Ohio State, Nebraska and Indiana. Other teams include the host squad, Missouri, No. 33 Iowa State, No. 29 Texas Tech, Colorado State, Gonzaga, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Nebraska, San Jose State, SMU and Wyoming.
 
Following this weekend, the 'Cats prepare for a busy April with three events, including two final regular season tournaments (Bryan National Collegiate, April 6-8; Lady Buckeye, April 21-22) and the 2012 Big Ten Championships in French Lick Ind., from April 27-29.
