PARRISH, Fla. - Northwestern wrapped up competition at the 2012 Central District Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Parrish, Fla. Senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) had the best round of any NU golfer at the tournament in the third round, shooting a 1-over 73. Lederhausen had three birdies in the round and was two-under through the first nine holes.
As a team, Northwestern placed 13th, shooting a 922 (+58, 314-303-305). The 'Cats finished Tuesday's final round with a 17-over 305.
Freshman Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) led the way for Northwestern, finishing the tournament in a tie for 21st. She posted the same score as round two, finishing with a 3-over 75. Lee totaled an 8-over 224 (74-75-75), tying with two other competitors.
Thanks to Lederhausen's strong third round, she vaulted all the way from a tie for 63rd to finish in a tie for 47th. Lederhausen finished with a 15-over 231 and improved each round, including a significant 10-stroke improvement from the first to second rounds (84-74).
Sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) also improved her score each round, finishing at a 5-over 77. Brown shot an 18-over 234 (79-78-77) to tie for 59th.
Junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) and freshman Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) rounded out the five NU competitors. Weaver totaled a 19-over 235 (77-78-80) to tie for 65th while Mai finished 72nd with a 25-over 241 (84-76-81).
Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil hung on for the individual title, finishing at a 4-under 212 (68-70-74). TCU edged Oklahoma by one stroke for the team title, scoring an 18-over 882. The Sooners, who led the team competition heading into Tuesday, finished 19-over while Vanderbilt was one stroke behind Oklahoma for third with a 20-over 884.
Northwestern has a break in its spring schedule and is back in action March 23-24 at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
