EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern continues its challenging dual slate on Saturday as it faces off against nine talented squads from around the country in South Bend, Ind. at the Notre Dame Duals. The Wildcats have seen three of their opponents already this season, including two last weekend in New York City.

Competition begins bright and early for the Wildcats on Saturday. Northwestern will fence Lawrence first followed by Detroit, Chicago, Case Western, Cleveland State, Florida, Iowa, Wayne State and Notre Dame. The most anticipated matchup of the day will be the final one, tentatively slated for 3:30 p.m., between the Wildcats and the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame got the better of the 'Cats the first time around, winning, 19-8, last Sunday at the NYU Invitational.

Northwestern defeated Wayne State at the NYU Invitational, 20-7, and also knocked off Florida's club team at the Western Invitational on January 7, 25-2.

The Wildcats have seen strong performances on the strips from all three weapons this season. Dayana Sarkisova (Grand Rapids, Mich./Forest Hills Central) currently paces the foilists with 38 wins against just four losses. Teammate Devynn Patterson (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) has 30 wins under her belt, while team captain Camille Provencal (St. Paul, Minn./Central) has notched 26 victories.

Freshman Courtney Dumas (Cleveland, Ohio/Hathaway Brown) leads not only the epée squad with 39 wins, but leads the entire team. Senior Kate Cavanaugh (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) has won 34 bouts and Kendrick Mooney (Arcadia, Calif./Arcadia) has been victorious 27 times.

Chloe Grainger (Decatur, Ga./Decatur) leads the sabre squad with a record of 37-10, while Alicia Gurrieri (Medford, N.J./Moorestown Friends) has returned after missing all the 2010-11 campaign with an injury to win 33 bouts to date.

Saturday's meet begins at 7 a.m. CST inside the Joyce Center Fieldhouse.
