Complete U-21 U.S. National Team Roster
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern rising sophomore Nikki Parsley and incoming freshman goalkeeper Maddy Carpenter recently affirmed themselves as two of the nation's top players at their age group when they earned selection to the United States U-21 National Team following a one-week training camp in July.
Parsley, a forward and NU's second-leading returning scorer in 2011, was named to the U-21 team for the first time after competing earlier this year for the U-19 team. Carpenter, a goalkeeper from Wilbraham, Mass., also has plenty of international-level experience having previously played for the U-17, U-19 and U-21 teams.
Members of the U-21 team will be invited to a training weekend at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., early in 2012, from which the team's touring squad will be selected. A complete list of individuals selected to the U.S.' Junior National Teams is available at the top of the page.
Junior National Team athletes likely will have the chance to play with the Women's National Team Developmental Squad against a top international side in Chula Vista next spring.
Northwestern opens training camp for its third season under head coach Tracey Fuchs in the upcoming week, beginning preparations for its 2011 opener at Kent State on Friday, Aug. 28.
