EVANSTON, Ill. -- Fresh off their second-consecutive trip to the postseason, Northwestern looks to make it three in a row in 2011-12, as reigning Big Ten Co-Coach of the Year Emily Fletcher announces the upcoming schedule. The 'Cats will participate in 10 tournaments and will host the annual Windy City Collegiate Classic at Glen View Club in Golf, Ill., on Oct. 3 and 4.
Northwestern will begin the fall season in Tulsa, Okla., competing in the Dale McNamara Invitational on Sept. 12-14. Following that, NU will head to the desert once again to compete in the Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M., on Sept. 25 and 26.
The Wildcats then return to Chicagoland to host their only home tournament this year, the Windy City Collegiate Classic on Oct. 3 and 4 at the Glen View Club in Golf, Ill. After a three-week layoff, NU will close out the fall portion of the schedule with a trip to Wilmington, N.C., to compete in the Ladfall Tradition on Oct. 28-30.
Trips to warm-weathered Rio Mar, P.R., and Parrish, Fla., in back-to-back weeks in February will tee off the spring portion of the year for NU. The 'Cats will compete in the Lady Puerto Rico before flying back to the mainland for the Central District Invitational to face a few Big Ten opponents and some of the nation's top clubs.
After a month break, Northwestern will venture west once more, this time to Arizona for the Mountain View Collegiate, before heading back to North Carolina to compete in the Bryan National Collegiate in April. The annual Lady Buckeye will be the Wildcats' last event before the gearing up for the Big Ten Championships. NU hosted the Big Ten Championships last year and finished in third place, setting a program record for a 72-hole team score (1,187).
With the likes of senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Central), junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) and sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) returning to action, the 'Cats have a trip to the postseason in their sights.
