Cubs Honor National Champion Wildcats at Wrigley Field

CHICAGO -- Northwestern, champion of NCAA women's lacrosse in 2011, was welcomed into the Friendly Confines of Wrigley Field to be honored for their achievements prior to the Cubs-Astros game Tuesday night. The 'Cats showcased their sixth NCAA championship trophy on the field before tournament MVP Shannon Smith threw out the game's first pitch with her lacrosse stick.
After taking the short bus ride from Evanston to Chicago's North Side, the Wildcats spent the evening watching the game from Wrigley's right field seats.

Wildcat fans have an additional opportunity to congratulate the NCAA champions on Saturday, June 4, during NU Day at Arlington Park. The event is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. and will feature several Northwestern coaches and NU-themed races throughout the day!
