DAY ONE RESULTS

COLUMBUS, Ohio-- Two Wildcats are in position to advance to the medal round after day one of the 2011 NCAA Fencing Championships in Columbus, Ohio. Sophomore foilist Dayana Sarkisova finished the day with a 10-4 record while freshman Dina Bazarbayeva went 9-5 in epée, each situating themselves for medal opportunities tomorrow.

Chloe Grainger (sabre), Devynn Patterson (foil) and Kate Cavanaugh (epée) all finished with records of 5-9 for the 13th-place Wildcats.

Nine more bouts await the competitors tomorrow. Action resumes at 8:30 a.m. CT and the championship bouts begin at 1 p.m. CT. To follow the action live, click HERE.
