EVANSTON, Ill. -- Following a third-place showing at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships, Northwestern returns to the strips Saturday (March 12) for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Wayne State. At stake is a trip to Columbus, Ohio for the 2011 NCAA Championships, which will take place in two weeks, March 26-27.

"I think we have a very good shot heading into the Regional," head coach Laurie Schiller said. "Certainly every year we have a good chance to claim six slots and this year is no different. We had a great practice yesterday and the girls are ready to go."

Northwestern will send 12 fencers to regional competition, including returning All-American foilist Dayana Sarkisova and junior Devynn Patterson who placed 21st in the women's foil last year in the NCAA Championships.
