IOWA CITY, IOWA -- Freshman Karly Roser registered a career-best 14 points but it was not enough to supply Northwestern a victory, as the Wildcats dropped a 86-55 decision at Iowa Friday night. Kendall Hackney chipped in 12 points as NU falls to 10-4, 0-1 on the year.

Northwestern shot 50 percent from the field through the first 10 minutes, but Iowa went 3-of-4 from long range to even the ledger at 15.

Iowa's heralded three-point shooting took over after that, as it used five-straight triples to construct a 17-3 run to take a 35-18 lead at the 6:22 mark. The Wildcats added two buckets to pull to 35-22, but Iowa closed the half on an 8-0 run to take a 43-22 advantage into the break.

The Hawkeyes shot 43 percent from the field, and 5-of-18 (53 percent) from deep while only committing four miscues. Hackney and Roser each contributed eight points to lead NU. The Wildcats were not granted a free-throw opportunity the entire first half.

Iowa opened the second stanza on a 12-4 run to shoot ahead 55-26. Each time Northwestern would go on a run, the Hawkeyes would respond with a triple or a defensive stop to cut the momentum and bring the crowd back into the game. In total, Iowa went 12-of-27 from deep.

Meghan McKeown also turned in a career performance with six points on a pair of three pointers.

Northwestern has a bye this weekend but returns to action when it hosts Minnesota at 7 p.m. on Thurs., Jan. 5.
