Northwestern Head Coach Bill Carmody
On freshmen guards Tre Demps and Dave Sobolewski...
"They didn't turn the ball over. We only had seven turnovers and I think three of
them were walks. But, it didn't flow. It wasn't seamlessly going, our offense. The
second half, I thought, was a little bit better. No one was really making shots, but I
thought we were getting the shots we wanted. I didn't think they played poorly. I
told them both at the end of the game, I don't feel like coaching this part of the game,
the last five minutes. So you guys take over now. Make sure you're on the same page
together. At times, one was calling one thing and the other was calling another."
On replacing Michael Thompson...
"I'm over it. I like our guards. I think we have a really good bunch of guards. The two
freshmen, we've got Alex (Marcotullio), JerShon (Cobb)...Reggie (Hearn) played a
little bit tonight. I'm fine with our backcourt."
On upcoming game versus LSU...
"They're a good team. They played last night. We just need to prepare for them,
scout for them. It is clearly a step up. They are a pretty athletic team. They have got
a couple of young guys that are very, very good. Everyone's back, and I think we will
be. We're a veteran team. So we got to go in and get the win."
Junior Drew Crawford
On if they expect to push the ball offensively this season...
"Every day in practice we get rebounds, Coach is always telling us to run, push the
ball down the court and really get it ahead. If you can score before you have to get
into the offense, that's a great way to score. We have some guys that are capable of
it. We have some athletes."
Senior John Shurna
On playing in the Charleston Classic...
"It should be fun. We've been playing against each other everyday, so it will be nice
to mix it up a little bit. I think our coaches do a tremendous job of preparing us for
each game."
