'Cats Wrap Up 2011 Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Northwestern wrapped up competition at its final event of the fall Sunday at the 2011 Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. The Wildcats had their best round of the tournament Sunday, shooting a 26-over 314 and placed 16th in the very competitive field, finishing with a three-round score of 950 (320-316-314).

Junior Lauren Weaver (Scottsdale, Ariz./Cactus Shadows) finished the highest of the five NU competitors, but three strokes separated three Wildcats in the standings. Weaver shot an 8-over 80 in the third round to finish with an 18-over 234 (80-74-80) and tied for 31st.

Senior Alex Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) had the best third-round score for the Wildcats with a 4-over 76. She finished one stroke behind Weaver at 19-over 235 (79-80-76) to tie for 34th.

Sophomore Devon Brown (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./Cathedral Catholic) shot with a 20-over 236 (84-75-77) after posting a 5-over 77 in the third round to tie for 39th. Brown and Weaver each had five birdies throughout the tournament.

Freshmen Hana Lee (Hacienda Heights, Calif./Wilson) and Brittany Mai (Poway, Calif./Poway) rounded out the Wildcat competitors and both shot a 9-over 81 in the third round. Lee finished with a 246 (78-87-81) to tie for 79th while Mai scored a 251 (83-87-81) for 85th.

Northwestern now turns its focus to the spring season, which begins Feb. 12-14 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic. The Wildcats have five events on the spring schedule before the 2012 Big Ten Championships in April in French Lick, Ind.
