EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern has added a game to its schedule and will host Rockford College at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lakeside Field. This game has been added to replace the Oct. 19 match against Loyola-Chicago, which was canceled due to severe weather in the Evanston area.
"With Loyola having conference games midweek each of the next two weeks we were unable to find a date that would work out for both teams,” Northwestern head coach Tim Lenahan said. “The NCAA allows you to replace a game and since Rockford had a game canceled earlier this year, we were able to arrange a game at this late date. Without a midweek game each of the next two weeks, we would have had only three games in three weeks so I am glad we were able to work this out."
Rockford (Ill.) College competes at the NCAA Division III level and is a member of the Northern Athletics Conference.
Thursday's game is one of two matches at Lakeside Field this week as Northwestern closes out the 2011 homestand against No. 13 Indiana on Sunday.
