EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern head men's soccer coach Tim Lenahan has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the NSCAA/NISOA National Merit Award, as announced by the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association.
The award is presented yearly to a college coach whose reputation is recognized as praiseworthy and reflects the highest standards of professional and ethical behavior.
"I am honored and humbled to receive this award considering some of the legendary coaches who have received it in the past," Lenahan said. "I am proud of the way our teams have played. One of our team goals is to be the team with the least amount yellow cards in the Big Ten. I think it is possible to have a competitive personality, achieve on-field success and still promote sportsmanship within the game."
Lenahan has guided the Wildcats to the NCAA tournament in five of the last seven seasons. He has 100-76-25 record in 10 seasons as the head coach at Northwestern.
