EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern senior forward Matt Eliason (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) is among the 39 individuals named Wednesday to the Missouri Athletic Club's 2010 Hermann Trophy Watch List. The Hermann Trophy is awarded annually to the nation's top collegiate soccer player.

It marks the third time in the last four years that a Wildcat player has been named to the watch list. Eliason joins David Roth (2007) and Mark Blades (2009) as recent Northwestern individuals to earn the recognition.

Michigan State goalkeeper Avery Steinlage is the only other Big Ten player besides Eliason named to the list.

Eliason enters his senior season at NU tied for the school career record with 30 goals. He also ranks tied for third in school annals with 70 career points. A two-time first-team All-Big Ten selection, Eliason led the conference with 13 goals in 2009, including notching six game-winners. He helped lead the Wildcats an 11-5-4 record and the third round of the NCAA tournament a year ago.

Voting for the MAC Hermann Trophy is conducted in late November, when a field of 15 semifinalists is reduced to three finalists. Those three will be invited to the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, where a news conference will be held to announce the winner, followed by a banquet to honor the three finalists.

A complete listing of the Hermann Trophy watch list can be found here.
