Wildcats Ranked No. 9 in NSCAA Preseason Poll

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Preseason men's soccer prognostications continue to roll in with the opening of the 2010 season right around the corner. The latest entity to release its preseason rankings is the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) which places Northwestern at No. 9 in its top-25 poll.
The Wildcats recently came in ranked 19th in a preseason poll released by College Soccer News.
NU was No. 11 in the final 2009 NSCAA rankings after posting an 11-5-4 record and advancing to the third round of the NCAA tournament.
Northwestern is the highest-ranked Big Ten team in the NSCAA rankings. Ohio State is ranked No. 18, followed by Indiana at No. 20 and Michigan State at No. 24. Penn State also received votes.
NU returns 15 letterwinners and 7 starters from last year's squad and opens its exhibition season Aug. 21 at Villanova. The Wildcats begin the 2010 regular season Sept. 3 on the road at San Francisco.
