Wildcats, Emily Wong Earn CSCAA All-Academic Team Honors

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern senior Emily Wong (Nepean, Ontario/St. Joseph's) and the Wildcats' team as a whole have been honored with All-Academic Team honors by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). In addition, six other Wildcats picked up honorable mention awards from the organization.
Wong is the 47th Northwestern swimmer or diver to achieve All-Academic Team status as an individual in the Wildcats' history. To earn the honor, a student-athlete must qualify for the NCAA Championships and achieve a GPA of 3.5 or above.
Northwestern compiled a team GPA of 3.5, ranking it 12th-highest in the country and best among any team with representation at the NCAA Championships. Along with Wong, junior Ellen Grigg (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School), senior Genny Szymanski (Haines, Alaska/Haines), senior Rachel Rys (Goleta, Calif./Dos Pueblos), sophomore Kathleen Patterson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and freshman Meredith King (Louisville, Ky./duPont Manual) were named All-Academic Team honorable mention recipients.
