WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Senior Emily Wong (Nepean, Ontario/St. Joseph's) saved her best swim for the final day of the 2010 NCAA Championships, completing a career-best effort in the 100 freestyle Saturday to highlight Northwestern's day at the national meet.
Wong's 49.57 in the race was easily better than her previous season best of 49.81, and shaved .05 of a second off her prior career best in the race. She took 29th overall in the nation in the event after entering Saturday as the 50th seed, a whopping 21 place improvement.
Senior Kassia Shishkoff (Raleigh, N.C./St. David's School) turned in a 2:00.16 during the first preliminary heat of the 200 butterfly, placing her 35th overall in the event. The finish was a two spot improvement over her No. 37 seed heading into the event.
