Northwestern Hosts Duquesne Friday in Program's 300th Game

Northwestern returns to the turf at Lakeside Field, hosting Duquesne at 3 p.m. Friday, March 12. The game marks the 300th in Northwestern history as the Wildcats enter the weekend with an overall program record of 217-82 (.726).

Wildcat fans unable to make it to Lakeside Field this Friday can still catch every Northwestern goal. The game against the Dukes will be streamed live on BigTenNetwork.com, a high-quality internet subscription. Scouting the Dukes
Duquesne heads to Evanston with a 1-4 record on the year and is coming off a thrilling 14-13 double overtime win over Cincinnati on Saturday. Sophomore Caitlin Colegrove netted the game winner for her sixth goal of the year, as she also has a pair of assists on the year. Senior Meghan Frederick had a career-best seven goals against the Bearcats, upping her season total to a team-best 12, with sophomore Katie Rekart adding nine goals and three assists and freshman Lauren Johnson tallying seven goals on the year. Redshirt senior Kat McNish has tallied four goals and a team-best seven assists as she is nation's active assist leader with 118. Junior Courtney Lambert is pacing the Dukes with 10 ground balls on the year, followed by sophomore Amy Gladfelter's nine. Senior goalkeeper Sara Beckstead has seen the majority of action between the pipes for Duquesne, recording 59 saves with a .468 save percentage and a 15.43 goals against average. Mike Scerbo is in his fifth year at the helm of the Dukes with a 36-36 (.500) record and is 69-60 (.535) in his 10 seasons as a head coach.
Series Information
Northwestern and Duquesne meet for the fifth time Friday with the Wildcats holding a 4-0 edge in the overall series. Last season Northwestern took a 20-6 decision in Pittsburgh as Hannah Nielsen dished out an NCAA single-game record 10 assists while Hilary Bowen and Danielle Spencer each tallied five goals. The Wildcats are 2-0 against the Dukes in Evanston, earning a 10-8 decision in 2002 and 21-6 victory in 2008.
Dowd, Bremer Capture ALC Player of the Week Honors
After helping lead Northwestern to a 15-10 victory over Georgetown Saturday, seniors Katrina Dowd and Maggie Bremer were named the American Lacrosse Conference's Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Dowd, who earns the honor for the second-straight week, notched a career-best eight points on five goals and three assists against the Hoyas while also adding four draw controls, three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Bremer scooped up a pair of ground balls, won a draw control and caused a Hoya turnover while anchoring the defensive unit which held Georgetown's All-American trio of Molly Ford, Ashby Kaestner and Jordyn Kirr in check, limiting them to a combined three goals on the afternoon.
Five Wildcats Named To Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List
The Greater Washington Sports Alliance has announced the Tewaaraton Trophy watch list for 2010, with five Wildcats among the 52 players named. Seniors Katrina Dowd and Danielle Spencer and sophomores Alexandra Frank, Shannon Smith and Lacey Vigmostad made the cut, as the five Northwestern selections are the most of any school. Northwestern has become very familiar with the Tewaaraton in recent years, capturing the award in each of the past four seasons. Kristen Kjellman was honored in 2006 and 2007, becoming the first player to win the trophy twice, with Hannah Nielsen taking home the award in 2008 and 2009. The award will be presented on June 3rd, 2010 at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
