EVANSTON, Ill. -- Coming off its 15-10 victory over fifth-ranked Georgetown, Northwestern had a pair of players earn American Lacrosse Conference weekly honors. Senior Katrina Dowd (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week, while fellow senior Maggie Bremer (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) earned the nod for the Defensive Player of the Week.

Dowd tallied a career-high eight points against the Hoyas on five goals and three assists, including four goals in the second half to help put the game away. She continued to be a force all over the field, winning four draw controls, scooping up three ground balls and causing two turnovers in helping lead Northwestern to the victory in its home opener.

Bremer anchored the Wildcat defensive backfield which kept Georgetown's offensive trio of Molly Ford, Ashby Kaestner and Jordyn Kirr in check. Guarding Kirr for the majority of the contest, Bremer held her to just one assist on the day while adding a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover.

The Player of the Week honor is the second of Dowd's career and her second in as many weeks. Bremer picks up the third DPOW honor of her career, earning the recognition twice in 2009 en route to being named to the All-Conference second team.

Dowd, Bremer and the rest of the Wildcats return to the turf at Lakeside Field Friday, hosting Duquesne at 3 p.m. The game against the Dukes will be streamed live at BigTenNetwork.com and will be re-aired on the Big Ten Network at 3:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 13.
