Box Score

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Chad Noble collected his second straight three-hit game, but Northwestern fell behind early and couldn't recover in falling to Marist 10-2 at the Bojangles Baseball Classic.

Marist (1-1) struck first in the bottom of the second inning, plating a pair of runs in the second inning against NU starter David Jensen. Both runs came across with two outs with the bottom of the order doing the damage. No. 8 hitter Richard Curylo had an RBI triple and No. 9 batter Mark Stuckey followed with a run-scoring single.

The Red Foxes broke the game open in the following inning as Bryce Nugent's grand slam put Marist in front 6-0.

Two more runs in the bottom of the fifth extended the Marist lead to eight before Northwestern (0-3) finally cashed in for two in the top of the sixth with a two-out rally. After the first two batters of the inning were retired, Trevor Stevens singled and Noble brought him all the way around with a run-scoring triple. Snieder followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit back to six.

But that would be as close as the Wildcats would get as the Red Foxes added to final runs in the bottom of the eighth.

NU was out-hit 12-7 in the contest. In addition to Noble, Paul Snieder also had a multi-hit game with two.

Northwestern wraps up play at the Bojangles Baseball Classic on Sunday as it faces George Mason at 10 a.m. Central time.
