Markinson Signs with Philadelphia Phillies

PHILADELPHIA – Northwestern alum Bennett Markinson has agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Phillies organization as an undrafted free agent.

In his senior season this spring, Markinson started all 52 of Northwestern's games, including 48 behind the plate at catcher. He hit .266 with a .783 on-base plus slugging percentage and led all Wildcats with two triples.

The Tarzana, Calif. native exploded onto the scene in 2024 during his junior season, leading all Wildcats in batting average (.337), on-base plus slugging percentage (.903), on-base percentage (.408), hits (68), and multi-hit games (20).

Dating from his sophomore season through his senior season, Markinson closed his collegiate career with 124 consecutive games started.
