MADISON, Wis. - Northwestern fell behind early Monday night, allowing Wisconsin three goals in a twelve-minute stretch of the first half and ultimately falling to the Badgers, 3-0, at McClimon Soccer Complex.
Laurie Nosbusch scored twice and assisted on the third goal for Wisconsin, which moved into first place in the Big Ten standings with the win.
The Wildcats attempted to rally in the second half, outshooting the Badgers 6-5 after intermission. Caroline Dagley (San Rafael, Calif./The Branson School) led NU with three shots in the game while Kate Allen (Whitehouse, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) put both of her scoring attempts on target.
"The first half tonight was not representative of Northwestern soccer," head coach Stephanie Foster said after the game. "I'm proud of the way we turned it around in the second half and continued to fight throughout the game."
Carolyn Edwards (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) made her 56th consecutive start in goal for Northwestern and made three saves in the opening half. Grace Weitz (Golden Valley, Minn./The Breck School) came on as a halftime substitute and logged the first complete half of her collegiate career. Weitz made one save in the game, her first since the 2008 season.
Northwestern will close the 2010 season Saturday night at Illinois. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
