Jamieson's Journal: Big Week in the Big Ten

Senior defender Megan Jamieson will be providing written and video highlights from Northwestern's 2010 regular season in her blog, Jamieson's Journal. Below is entry No. 7 in the series.
This past weekend we did something that had yet to be done this field hockey season, lose two games in a row.
Our games in Michigan exposed how each play, each corner and each possession can be a major factor in our games. It always seems so simple on film when we see what adjustments we need to make, and now more then ever heading into our last three games of the season, it is crucial we make these adjustments.
Losing to Michigan in overtime and surrendering our first conference loss was truly a heartbreaker. It was probably the most intense game we have played to date. We put everything we had out on that field and to still come up empty handed was really disappointing. But we couldn't wallow in our losses, two days later we had another game to play.
The Michigan State game was a good test to see how we could rebound after such an intense game in Ann Arbor. It was another high-energy match with each team getting their opportunities to score; the Spartans capitalized on one more of their chances than we were able to. Though this first game was a loss, we get to face MSU for a league game again next week -- at home on Senior Day -- and needless to say, we'll be ready.
This weekend we head to Iowa City to face the Hawkeyes. Our games against the Hawks are always fiercely competitive so we're expecting another great Big Ten match for us. Practices this week have been intense and focused and everyone is eager to get back out on the field once again. No one wants to lose again and we're ready to prove that in Iowa City.
