EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Kassia Shishkoff (Raleigh, N.C./St. David's School) has been named the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for her efforts in No. 23 Northwestern's six-point victory at Notre Dame Saturday.

Shishkoff won all three of her races, nabbing victories in three of the last four swimming events in the entire meet to complete a massive comeback against the Irish. She began her day with an NCAA provisional time of 1:48.87 to win the 200 free, matching her season-best effort in the event.

With Northwestern trailing heavily late in the day, Shishkoff next won the 500 free by more than seven seconds with a mark of 4:53.58. After NU inserted her into the 400 IM lineup at the last second, Shishkoff responded with a 2.5 second margin of victory in the race to lead an NU sweep of the top four spots. Shishkoff capped the day by anchoring the winning 400 free relay to complete the comeback.

This is the fourth career weekly award for Shishkoff, who becomes NU's third swimmer to capture the award this season. Emily Wong (Nepean, Ontario/St. Joseph's), Jenn Kocsis (Omaha, Neb./Marian) and diver Felicitas Lenz (Altadena, Calif./Polytechnic School) (twice) also have won the weekly conference accolade this year.
