EVANSTON, Ill. -- Lacrosse Magazine has released its 2010 preseason rankings with Northwestern occupying the top spot. The Wildcats, who finished 23-0 in 2009 en route to their fifth-straight national championship, return 20 letterwinners and eight starters in 2010, including All-American attackers Katrina Dowd and Danielle Spencer.
Head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, who begins her ninth season with a 134-24 overall record, and her Wildcats will get a good luck at a handful of the remaining top-20 teams as 10 clubs are on Northwestern's 2010 schedule, including seven of the remaining top-nine.
Amonte Hiller and the Wildcats get the 2010 slate underway in just under four weeks when they travel to San Diego, Calif., to take on Massachusetts in a rematch of last year's NCAA first round on Saturday, Feb. 6. Northwestern's first home game will be against sixth-ranked Georgetown on Saturday, March 6.
