EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's men's soccer team kicks off its 2009 home campaign Monday, Sept. 7 when the Wildcats host DePaul at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Field. Northwestern fans now have the chance to support head coach Tim Lenahan's squad as it begins its march toward a Big Ten Championship. For the first time in program history, fans can order season tickets to ensure their seats for all the action of the upcoming season. To order tickets fans can click on the link at the top of the page or call the ticket office at 847-491-CATS.
"This is certainly one of our most challenging home schedules that we've ever had," Northwestern head coach Tim Lenahan said. "The fact that we're facing traditional soccer powers such as South Carolina and Lafayette as well as crosstown rivals DePaul and Loyola, we have a real challenge in front of us. Not to mention the fact that our Big Ten conference schedule features last season's Big Ten Champion, fans will have the chance to see some really great soccer at Lakeside Field this season."
Coming off its second NCAA quarterfinal round appearance in the last three seasons and ranked No. 9 in the College Soccer News preseason poll, Northwestern looks to continue this success all season long. The 2009 squad returns All-American Mark Blades as well as fellow All-Big Ten selections Matt Eliason and Misha Rosenthal as well as Peter O'Neill, a member of the 2008 Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Once again this year, the `Cats are holding their games at the beautiful Lakeside Field, a venue in which they have went 8-1 in 2008, including hosting two NCAA tournament contests. The home season is right around the corner, so act now before it is too late to ensure that you will be in the stands as the `Cats look to capture a Big Ten Championship.
