Trio of Wildcats Named NGCA All-American Scholar Recipients

2008-09 NGCA All-American Scholar Recipient Press Release 
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy), Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) have been named National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar recipients for the 2008-09 academic year.
This is the fourth-straight year Hong has earned NGCA recognition, as she recently graduated with a degree in political science. She closed out her senior campaign with a 78.26 scoring average and a fifth-place finish at the Mountain View Collegiate. Hong's career 77.00 scoring average ranks second all-time in Wildcat program history.
Lindenschmidt earns All-American Scholar honors for the second time, being named to the team as a freshman in 2007-08. She led the 'Cats in scoring average this past year at 77.81, and notched the first top-10 finish of her career at the 2009 Big Ten Championships. Lindenschmidt, who is gearing up for her junior campaign, also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors this spring.
Tantanavivat also earned NGCA recognition following her first season as a Wildcat. The business major ranked second on the team in scoring average at 78.15, and also recorded her first career top-10 finish, placing sixth at the Windy City Collegiate. She also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
A total of 410 women's collegiate golfers from Divisions I, II and III were recognized by the National Golf Coaches Association with this prestigious honor. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50% (Division I) or 66% (Division II & III) of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
