EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern heads to Columbus, Ohio, for the 29th annual Lady Buckeye Invitational this Saturday and Sunday. The Wildcats, who finished fourth at the 2008 Lady Buckeye, will face a Big Ten-laden field in the final tune-up before the Big Ten Championships next weekend.
The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Scarlet Course, a par-72, 6,228 yard course on the campus of Ohio State University. The 15-team field will play 36 holes on Saturday, April 18, and finish up the final 18 holes on Sunday, April 19. Both days will feature a shotgun start beginning at 7:30 a.m. Central.
As has been the case in recent years, a majority of Big Ten teams will go head-to-head one week before the Big Ten Championships in West Lafayette, Ind., next weekend. Along with the Wildcats and host Buckeyes, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin will take to the course in Columbus. Kansas, Kansas State, Kent State, Nebraska, Rollins and Washington round out the 15-team field.
Northwestern is coming off a seventh-place finish at the competitive SunTrust Lady Gator on April 7, where the Lederhausen sisters paced the Wildcats. Sophomore Rebecca Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) shot a 22-over 232 to tie for 22nd place, one shot better than freshman sister Alexandra Lederhausen's (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) 23-over 233.
Senior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) has historically played well at the Lady Buckeye, finishing in 11th-place with a 14-over 230 in 2008. Sophomores Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) and Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) and freshman Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) all look to make the NU scorecard for this weekend as well.
Live scoring of the Lady Buckeye will be available at Golfstat.com.
