EVANSTON, Ill. -- For the second-straight week, a pair of Wildcats bring home American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week honors, with senior Hannah Nielsen (Adelaide, Australia/Brighton Secondary) being named Offensive POW and junior Maggie Bremer (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) capturing the Defensive honors. It marks the second time this season both players have won their respective awards. Vanderbilt goalkeeper Natalie Wills was named the ALC Rookie of the Week.

Nielsen captured the Offensive nod for the second-straight week after tallying a career-best seven goals and adding a pair of assists in Northwestern's 19-8 victory over fourth-ranked Syracuse Sunday. Nielsen moved into sixth-place on the all-time Wildcat goals list with 146 and drew within five helpers of becoming the NCAA's all-time assist leader. She leads the nation in both points (64) and assists (33) and ranks first in points per game (7.11).

Bremer earned her second Defensive POW of the year after helping the Wildcat defense shut down the potent Syracuse attack. Along with her defensive teammates, Bremer held the Orange's Katie Rowan, the nation's active points leader, off the scoreboard for the third straight meeting and limiting Syracuse's offensive attack, which was averaging nearly 18 goals a game, to just eight. In addition, Bremer tallied the first assist of her career, feeding Nielsen at the top of the crease for a second-half goal.

Nielsen, Bremer and the rest of the Wildcats are in Amherst, Mass., for a midweek contest against UMass Wednesday, March 25, at 6 p.m. The game is the first ever night game for the Minutewomen as the 'Cats square off against former assistants Alexis Venechanos and Acacia Walker, the Massachusetts head coach and associate head coach respectively.
