PALM SPRINGS, Calif. -- Northwestern senior Samantha Murray and sophomore Stacey Lee each won singles matches Sunday as the Wildcats concluded play at the 2009 Duals in the Desert in Palm Springs, Calif. It marked the final day of competition before a two-month layoff that precedes the start of the 2010 spring dual match season.
In flight one, Murray defeated UCLA's Nina Pantic in the first set, 6-3, before Pantic retired prior to the completion of the second set. In flight two, Lee completed an undefeated weekend by knocking off Georgia's Naoko Ueshima in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Last season, Lee posted a 20-2 overall singles record in her freshman campaign.
