NU Doubles Pair Advances at All-American Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Northwestern's 35th-ranked doubles tandem of seniors Samantha Murray and Lauren Lui opened play in the qualifying bracket of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Tuesday with an 8-6 win over Boise State's 33rd-ranked Lauren Megale and Pichittra Thongdach.
With the win, the 'Cats earned a date in the second round with the nation's 10th-ranked doubles team, Floriday's Marritt Boonstra and Joanna Mather.
In qualifying singles action earlier in the day, Murray fell in her opening-round match, dropping a 6-2, 6-2 decision against No. 52 Liset Brito of Florida International.
