Nemecek, French Lead `Cats at USFA North American Cup

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Senior Sam Nemecek (Caledonia, Mich./Caledonia) and junior Christa French (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) both posted top-10 finishes in their respective weapons at the USFA North American Cup over the weekend. The duo also attained their A2009 rating.
Nemecek lead the Wildcat foilists, finishing fifth out of a field of 104, and was joined at the top of the leaderboard by freshman Devynn Patterson (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) who placed 10th. Fellow freshman Camille Provencal-Dayle (St. Paul, Minn./Central) finished 29th while junior Meredith Baskies (Lynnfield, Mass./Boston University Academy) also cracked the top-50, placing 48th.
French again finished tops in the epée, placing eighth out of a challenging 151-person field. Senior Megan Ross (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel Area) joined French in the top-50, finishing 43rd, while sister Kayley French (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) placed 80th. In the sabre, junior Allie Keller (St. Concord, Mass./Concord-Carlisle Regional) finished 86th while sophomore Jill Mahen (Chester, N.J./Mendham) placed 90th.
The Wildcats now get into the hear of the dual meet portion of their season, beginning Saturday, Jan. 25, at the NYU Duals in New York City. The `Cats then return home to host the second installment of the NU Duals Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 31-Feb. 1.
