EVANSTON, Ill. - For the second consecutive week, Northwestern junior goalkeeper Misha Rosenthal has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. It is the third such honor of his career and the fourth consecutive week a Wildcat player has earned a player-of-the-week honor from the conference.

In addition to Rosenthal being recognized a week ago, Mark Blades was named the co-Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 8, while Matt Eliason was recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 15.

Rosenthal set a Northwestern single-season record with his eighth shutout of the year as the Wildcats defeated No. 16 Ohio State 1-0 Saturday night at Lakeside Field. He made three saves in the effort.

His eight shutouts this year have come in just nine matches and have helped Northwestern post its best start to a season in school history (8-0-1). It was the 18th shutout of Rosenthal's career, extending his school-record total.

The win was NU's third consecutive in a Big Ten opener with all the victories coming against Ohio State.

The Wildcats face a stiff test Tuesday evening as they travel to perennial power Saint Louis for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
