EVANSTON, Ill. -- Senior Alexandra Quinn had a hand in five of Northwestern's six goals to lift the Wildcats to a 6-1 victory over Saint Louis Friday at Lakeside Field. Quinn, who entered the game second in the Big Ten in goals, notched two scores and three assists and senior goalkeeper Emily Kyle made four saves in helping Northwestern remain a perfect 3-0 at home this year.
Five different Wildcats scored goals for NU (4-4), including junior Elizabeth Dobbs, who has now scored in three straight games and is second on the team with four goals.
Northwestern got things started in the ninth minute when Quinn fed the ball to senior forward Annie Bosslet streaking toward the cage. Bosslet had only the 'keeper to beat and managed to put the 'Cats up, 1-0.
NU scored again on a fast break when Quinn and junior forward Courtney Plaster-Strange perfectly executed a two-on-one advantage with Plaster-Strange putting home a one-timer.
After Molly Boyne slammed home a shot off a penalty corner to pull the Billikens to within one, Quinn dribbled uncontested down the middle of the field and put away the rebound after her first shot was saved by SLU goalkeeper Alex LaBarge.
Northwestern extended its lead in the second half when Quinn found Dobbs standing unmarked at the left post for the 'Cats fourth goal. After Quinn scored in front off a pass by Kendra Sirak, Northwestern capped off its scoring with a successful penalty corner as junior Stephanie Fortson deflected in a shot by Plaster-Strange.
Of Northwestern's 23 goals in 2008, 11 have come in the first half of play with the remaining 12 coming in the second frame. The 'Cats scored three in each half against Saint Louis.
With her four saves, Kyle became the fifth NU goalie to surpass 300 saves in her career and has now started 44 matches dating back to her freshman year.
NU has a chance to win its fourth straight home game when it takes on Robert Morris Sunday at noon. Fans can come out to Lakeside Field or follow all the play-by-play action online with Gametracker.
