EVANSTON, Ill. -- After capturing their fourth-straight national championship back in May, the Wildcats women's lacrosse team will be honored by both of Chicago's Major League Baseball teams. Head coach Kelly Amonte Hiller and a number of `Cats will visit the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field on Aug. 7, then travel to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs on Aug. 19.
Amonte Hiller will be joined by Tewaaraton Trophy winner Hannah Nielsen and National Defender of the Year Christy Finch as the Sox host the Detroit Tigers at 7:11 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 7. The trio, along with the NU assistant coaches, will be honored during the pre-game festivities, beginning at approximately 6:20. It will mark the second time the `Cats have been recognized by the Sox, as Amonte Hiller threw out the first pitch at a game in 2006.
On Tuesday, Aug. 19, the Wildcats will make the trip up the red line to Wrigley Field as the Cubs battle the Cincinnati Reds at 7:05 p.m. Amonte Hiller will again be joined by Nielsen and Finch as they sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh-inning stretch and will also be honored during pre-game festivities.
Tickets to both games are still available for Wildcat fans wanting to cheer on the reigning champions. Contact the respective teams' ticket offices or visit the official team websites of the Sox or Cubs .
