Box Score

EVANSTON, Ill.-- No. 14 Boston University used a three-goal first half, including a tally just 45 seconds into regulation, to defeat Northwestern 3-0 on BU's home turf. The Wildcats kick off the home portion of its schedule Friday, Sept. 5, vs. Miami (Ohio) at 3 p.m. at Lakeside Field

Northwestern (0-2) found itself behind early in the contest when the Terriers' Nikki Lloyd hit a reverse-stick shot past NU netminder Emily Kyle (San Francisco, Calif./San Francisco University H.S.) less than one minute into the game. Boston University (1-0) tacked on goals by Gaby Hajjar (9:04) and Kali Cardoza (25:06) to prevent any thoughts of a Wildcat comeback.

Northwestern had a number of chances to score off of penalty corners, creating eight compared to BU's four. But the Terriers held strong in the defense and limited NU to two shots-on-goal for the day.

NU renews its series with Miami (Ohio) on Friday. The two schools have not met since 2006, when the RedHawks came away with a 3-1 win to start the season.
