EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will enter the Big Ten Championship this week as the No. 11 seed, and hopes to make its first conference victory the biggest. The 'Cats face Indiana in the opening round at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24.

The Big Ten Championship will be held at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex at the University of Iowa, April 24-27.

The Wildcats fell in a heartbreaking, 4-3, loss in its regular season finale at Michigan State Saturday. A win there would have secured the No. 10 seed for Northwestern heading into the tournament.

Northwestern had one of its better conference matches against Indiana earlier this season. The 'Cats took the doubles point from the Hoosiers and freshman Peter Rispoli (Naples, Fla./St. Stephens (Texas)) won in straight sets at No. 4 singles. Northwestern gave a valiant effort, pushing two additional singles matches into three sets, but ultimately dropped the match, 5-2.

With a win on Thursday, the Wildcats would move-on to face No. 3 Illinois at 1 p.m. Friday, April 25. For tournament information, including schedules and results, please visit the Big Ten Championship website.
