Wildcats Open Home Schedule Against Duquesne, Boston University

Northwestern (3-0) plays at home for the first time in 2008 hosting a pair of games at Lakeside Field this weekend. The Wildcats face Duquesne (1-5) at 4 p.m. Friday, March 7, then meet 14th-ranked Boston University (2-0) at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 9.
Scouting Duquesne
Duquesne has had a frustrating start to the 2008 season, sitting at 1-5 with four of those losses coming by four goals or less. The Dukes notched their first victory of the season with a 19-4 win over Robert Morris on March 5 and are led by junior Kathleen McNish's 19 points (eight goals, 11 assists). Duquesne has a pair of 15 goal scorers in junior Ashley Wood and sophomore Janna Faulkner, while junior Shannon Hadaway has netted 11. Head coach Mike Scerbo is in his third year with the Dukes with a 19-20 record, and is 52-44 overall in eight seasons.
Scouting Boston University
After capturing three straight America East Conference championships, 14th-ranked Boston University began the 2008 campaign with a pair of wins, defeating Massachusetts 11-7 Feb. 27 then toppling Brown 16-4 on March 5. The Terriers have been led in the early going by senior Molly Collins' seven goals while senior Lauren Morton, the team's second leading scorer in 2007, has netted six. Sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Klein has been solid in net for BU recording 17 saves in the pair of victories. Liz Robertshaw is in her second season leading the Terriers with an overall record of 15-6.
Series Information
This is the third meeting between Northwestern and Duquesne with the 'Cats holding a 2-0 series advantage. It will be the first meeting since a 10-4 Wildcat victory at Pittsburgh in 2003. Northwestern is likewise 2-0 all-time against the Terriers including last season's 17-4 win at Boston. This is the first time the Terriers will make the trip to Evanston.

Northwestern Comes Up Big on East Coast
Top-ranked Northwestern earned a pair of convincing victories on its East Coast swing, defeating Rutgers 21-4 on Feb. 24, then following it up with a 22-4 blasting of Hofstra. Sophomore Danielle Spencer (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) and junior Hilary Bowen (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) highlighted the weekend for the 'Cats, tallying a combined 18 goals on the two game trip. Junior Hannah Nielsen (Adelaide, Australia/Brighton Secondary) also came up big for NU, recording four goals and adding four assists against Rutgers, then netting four more goals and adding another assist against the Pride to finish with 13 points on the trip. Junior goalkeeper Morgan Lathrop (Briarcliff, N.Y./The Hackley School) recorded nine saves while allowing just five goals and improved her goals against average to 5.13.
