COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Northwestern's three entrants at the NCAA Zone C diving competition completed day two of the three-day event Saturday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, with two Wildcats earning top-10 finishes in the day's events.
On the 1-meter springboard, senior Ryan McIntosh (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) was in 13th place following the preliminary round, earning himself a spot in the finals with a score of 293.30. McIntosh then turned it on in the finals, scoring a 318.15 to jump four places up to ninth overall in the event.
On the 3-meter springboard, senior Leanne Dumais (Ventura, Calif./Buena) was in 10th place following a preliminary round score of 267.00, then remained in 10th overall after posting a 280.80 in the finals.
Northwestern junior Alex Kiaie (Milwaukee, Wis./Nicolet) was 22nd overall on the 1-meter springboard Saturday with a 261.85 during the first round.
In Friday's action Dumais earned a spot in the finals with a 17th-place finish on the 1-meter springboard during the first round, earning a score of 238.30. She jumped up a spot to 16th with a 241.95 in the final round.
Neither of NU's two men moved on to the finals of the 3-meter springboard on Friday. Kiaie was 20th overall while McIntosh ended up 31st.
Sunday marks the final day of NCAA Zone competition with the 10-meter platform event, but none of NU's three divers will participate in the event. A complex formula involving scores from all three boards will be used to determine who moves on from Zone C to the NCAA Championships.
