EVANSTON, Ill. -- The contract of Northwestern head field hockey coach Kelly McCollum will not be renewed, announced today by Northwestern Director of Athletics and Recreation Jim Phillips.
“To be certain, we want to express our sincere thanks to Coach McCollum for her dedicated service to Northwestern,” Phillips said. “As an alum of the program, Kelly will always be a part of the Wildcat family. We wish her the very best.”
“Our staff and players have worked hard to lay a solid foundation for this program's future,” McCollum said. “I am proud of the progress our team has made toward returning Northwestern's field hockey program to a high standard of excellence. I respect and support the decision to bring fresh leadership to the program in order to continue the work we started and achieve the high level of success it deserves.”
McCollum compiled a 32-63 overall record and a 3-27 mark in Big Ten play. This past season, the Wildcats were 7-13 overall, 1-5 in conference action.
A national search for her successor will begin immediately.
