EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern wrapped up its weekend trip to the Hawkeye State with a 5-3 victory against Missouri State at Grant Field in Iowa City on Saturday afternoon. NU took a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime and held on thanks to two goals apiece by senior Alexandra Quinn (Watertown, Mass./Watertown) and junior Elizabeth Dobbs (Wellesley, Mass./St. Ignatius (San Francisco)).

In just her second start of the season, Dobbs wasted no time making her presence known at the beginning of the game. In the fourth minute, she found herself alone with the ball off a penalty corner and slotted it past Missouri State goalkeeper Jessica Schuster from eight yards out.

Just four minutes later, Dobbs was in the right place at the right time again as Quinn dribbled along the end line and found Dobbs cutting to the goal. The Wellesley, Mass., native converted the easy finish for her seventh goal of 2008.

Northwestern (6-7) made it 3-0 when Quinn handled an end line pass from senior Alison Bullock (Chevy Chase, Md./Stone Ridge) and backhanded it past the 'keeper. She scored again in the second half off a feed from Sarah Marcincin (Bethlehem, Pa./Blair Academy) to increase her team-leading total in 2008 to 12.

Senior Annie Bosslet (Granite City, Ill./Villa Duchesne) also chipped in a goal in the first half when Bullock fired a hit from outside the circle. Bosslet managed to deflect it past Schuster to give NU a comfortable lead at halftime.

Late in the second half, Missouri State (6-5) had thoughts of a comeback and rallied to put three goals on the scoreboard. Melissa Lantz scored twice and Jennifer Portell scored once in the last 15 minutes, but the Bears ran out of time as Northwestern held on to win its fifth out-of-conference game of the year.

NU is back home next weekend to host No. 8 Michigan State on Friday and No. 3 Wake Forest on Sunday at Lakeside Field.
