Landfall Tradition Second Round Results
WILMINGTON, N.C. -- Northwestern sits in ninth-place heading into the final day of competition at the seventh-annual Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall. The Wildcats shot a 28-over 316 Saturday to sit at 55-over 631 through the first two rounds of the tournament, and are a stroke back of eighth-place North Carolina State.
Senior Jennifer Hong (Windermere, Fla./The First Academy) regrouped from her first-round 80 to shoot a 4-over 76 on the day to pace the Wildcats, tying her best round of the year. She sits at 12-over 156 through the first 36 holes, two strokes back of sophomore Kelsey Lindenschmidt (West Chester, Ohio/Ursuline AcademY), who is tied for 17th place at 10-over 154 after her round of 80 Saturday. Freshman Kylie Fuller (Temecula, Calif./Chapparal) looks for the first top-three finish of her Wildcat career, as after her 7-over 79 she enters the final round in a tie for 32nd place with a 15-over 159. Freshman Alexandra Lederhausen (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) is at 20-over 164 with sophomore Innapha Tantanavivat (Bangkok, Thailand/David Leadbetter Academy) at 23-over 167 to round out the Northwestern scorecard.
Northwestern enters the final day at Landfall within striking distance of several teams, as it trails eighth-place North Carolina State by just one stroke, seventh-place East Carolina by five shots and sixth-place Notre Dame by seven. The Wildcats hold a four shot advantage on the host Seahawks, and are 10 better than 11th-place Tulsa.
Defending champion Wake Forest is poised to run away with its second-straight Landfall Tradition title, entering the final round at 9-over 585 and leading second-place North Carolina by 23 strokes, as the Tarheels are at 32-over 608. Ohio State is a stroke behind UNC in third-place, with Michigan (39-over 615) and Florida (40-over 616) rounding out the top five. The Demon Deacons' Cheyenne Woods is the overall individual leader at 2-over, followed closely behind by teammate Natalie Sheary at 3-over.
