EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern returns to the pool following winter break for a two-session dual meet Saturday, Jan. 5, at No. 9 Tennessee. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. CT with the second session starting at 5 p.m. CT.

The Wildcats are 5-2 on the dual meet season, with both losses coming against ranked foes (No. 19 Wisconsin and No. 23 Indiana). Earlier this year, Northwestern defeated perennial power Purdue for the first time since 1999 and topped Notre Dame, both programs that were earning votes in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll.

In the most recent version of the poll (Dec. 17), Northwestern is three spots outside of the top-25 with 31 points.

The two programs traditionally face off in early January, with the Wildcats last defeating the then-No. 23 Lady Vols, 184-167, in 2005. In last year's meeting, current sophomore Kassia Shishkoff (Raleigh, N.C./St. David's School) won all four of her individual events with NCAA 'B' provisional qualifying standards, earning Big Ten and Swimming World Magazine National Swimmer of the Week accolades.

Tennessee enters the weekend with a 3-1 dual record including a win over No. 24 Kentucky. The Lady Vols' loss this year came Nov. 9-10 at the hands of No. 1 Auburn.

The Wildcats spent their winter training trip in Florida this year, defeating both Florida Atlantic and Denver in a double-dual meet.
